Here are some tips on How to Clean your Clarinet.
1. The first thing you do, is take your mouth piece, and put sterilizer on it. If you don't have sterilizer, dish soap works as well. Make sure to rinse the soap all off, or it could leave residue. Also, try and use warmer water for cleaning it.
2. Take the cloth, and shown in the picture, and put the string through all of the pieces except for the mouth piece which has already been cleaned. Make sure to get all pieces, and just to make sure they are clean, put the cloth through it twice.
3. NEVER eat before playing. If you do, make sure to clean your teeth and rinse out your mouth. If you play before cleaning your mouth, that could leave a residue on the mouth piece, and/or pieces of your food could get into your instrument.
4. This is for the ladies reading this. If you wear lipstick, or lip gloss, or whatever makeup on your lips then make sure to clean it off before playing. If you don't that could leave a residue on the mouth piece and reed, which would be very difficult to get off. After you play, you can apply to makeup again if you want to.
5. DO NOT CHEW GUM WHILE PLAYING. If you have gum in your mouth, throw it out. If you play with gum in your mouth, that will leave a sticky residue on the mouth piece, and if it falls out of your mouth while playing, it could get stuck to your Clarinet.
